Water Analytics

Turn operational data into decisions

Consumption trends, revenue performance, non-revenue water and site benchmarking — built on the same data your dashboards already show, without extra reporting work.

The problem

Raw data isn't the same as an answer

Most operators can see current numbers but struggle to answer questions like which sites are underperforming, what's changing over time, or where to invest next.

  • No easy way to compare performance across sites or machines
  • Trends buried in raw exports instead of visualized clearly
  • Non-revenue water estimated rather than measured
  • Reports built manually each time leadership asks a question

The Hydrotec approach

Analytics built on your existing operational data

Because Hydrotec's platform already captures device, consumption, quality and revenue data, analytics doesn't require a separate data pipeline — it's a lens on data you're already collecting.

Features

What's included

Consumption trends

Usage patterns over time, by site, region or device type.

Revenue performance

Revenue and volume dispensed correlated across the network.

Non-revenue water

Compare production and billed or dispensed volume to quantify losses.

Site benchmarking

Compare performance across sites to identify what's working.

Custom reports

Build and schedule reports for specific stakeholders or compliance needs.

Goal tracking

Track performance against operational or coverage targets over time.

Architecture

Analytics as a layer, not a separate system

Because every device, transaction and quality reading already flows into one data model, analytics is computed directly from operational data rather than a separately maintained warehouse.

Infrastructure

Plants, networks, ATMs, tanks

IoT Devices

Sensors, meters, controllers

Cloud Platform

Ingestion, storage, rules

APIs

REST & webhooks

Dashboards

Web operations console

Mobile Apps

Field & customer apps

Analytics & AI

Forecasts, anomalies

Use cases

Where this fits

Water ATM operators

Compare machine and site performance to guide expansion decisions.

Utilities

Quantify non-revenue water and track loss-reduction programs over time.

Investors & funders

Standardized performance reporting for programs with external funding.

Technical detail

How analytics are computed

Reports and trends are computed from the same underlying records used across the platform.

  • Aggregated from device, transaction and quality records in near real time
  • Configurable time ranges and groupings (site, region, device type)
  • Exportable to CSV or via the Water API for external BI tools
  • Scheduled report delivery by email

Why it matters

Benefits

Answers, not just data

See trends and comparisons without manual analysis.

Better resource allocation

Identify underperforming sites before they become a bigger problem.

Standardized reporting

The same metrics, consistently defined, across your whole network.

No extra data pipeline

Analytics runs on data you're already collecting.

FAQ

Common questions

Do we need to set up a separate analytics or BI tool?

Not necessarily — core analytics are built into the platform. For advanced or custom BI needs, data is also exportable via the Water API.

How is non-revenue water calculated?

By comparing production or intake volume against billed, dispensed or metered consumption, surfacing the gap as an estimate of losses.

Can reports be scheduled and emailed automatically?

Yes — reports can be configured on a daily, weekly or monthly schedule and delivered to specified recipients.

Can I export the underlying data instead of just viewing dashboards?

Yes, data is exportable to CSV, and available programmatically through the Water API for integration with your own BI tools.
